On 10th September, Grow2Fly hosted an engaging and insightful webinar for the students of Psychology from VU on the topic “Child Counselling and Careers in Child Psychology.”
The session was conducted by Ishita Thite and aimed at giving students a deeper understanding of the field of child counselling, its practical applications, and the various career paths available in child psychology.
The webinar covered key topics including the importance of child counselling, skills required to work effectively with children, and the multiple roles professionals can take up in this field such as school psychologist, developmental psychologist, family therapist, remedial educator, play therapist, behaviour therapist, and special educator. Students were also introduced to the scope of research, rehabilitation work, early intervention programs, and the potential to specialize in unique areas like art or dance movement therapy and pediatric sports psychology.
Interactive discussions encouraged students to share their existing knowledge of careers in child psychology and reflect on how their current learning can shape children’s futures. The session emphasized that every child is unique and requires an individual approach, motivating participants to explore internships, volunteering opportunities, and further training.
The session concluded with the reminder that by choosing this field, students are not just studying psychology but contributing to shaping lives. The enthusiastic participation and thoughtful questions from the students made the webinar a meaningful experience.
