SETU is a structured Life Skills & Functional Learning Program at Grow2Fly, designed to support older learners with special needs through practical, activity-based and individualised learning.
The program focuses on developing everyday skills, functional learning, communication, social participation and vocational readiness that can help learners become more confident and independent in their daily lives.
What is SETU?
SETU means a bridge — a connection between where a learner is today and where they aspire to be tomorrow.
The program creates a supportive learning environment where education goes beyond textbooks and focuses on skills that have real-life value.
Through structured activities, hands-on learning and personalised support, SETU helps learners develop skills that can be applied at home, in the community and in future work environments.
What Does SETU Focus On?
Basic Life Skills
Developing practical skills required for greater independence in everyday life, including personal care, routines, organisation and managing day-to-day activities.
Functional Academics
Making academic learning meaningful and applicable to real-life situations through practical concepts such as functional reading, writing, numeracy, money management, time and everyday problem-solving.
Communication Skills
Encouraging learners to express their needs, thoughts and choices while developing functional communication and understanding social interactions.
Social Skills
Building confidence in interacting with others, following social norms, understanding appropriate behaviour and participating more effectively in different social situations.
Independent Living Skills
Supporting learners in making choices, taking responsibility and gradually becoming more independent in activities of daily living.
Vocational Readiness
Helping learners explore their strengths, interests and abilities while developing work-related habits and foundational skills that can support future vocational opportunities.
Community & Real-Life Learning
Providing opportunities to learn through practical experiences and understand how skills can be used in real-world environments.
